Training course on facilitating My Earth in 180’ – CNRS/IRD
21 February 2023 in Marseille and 28 February 2023 in Paris
Would you like to train to become a facilitator for the My Earth in 180’ workshop ?
You can still do so by registering for one of the training sessions on 21 and 28 February 2023.
The training lasts 6 hours :
– Part 1 : Action-based training, 10:00–13:00
– Part 2 : Facilitation tools and techniques, 14:00–17:00
It will primarily be held in person*, over one day, in Marseille and Paris. It aims to introduce you to the workshop and how it works, immerse you in a workshop session, familiarise you with its various components, and teach you how to supervise a game table so that you can lead a table during future sessions.
* For those unable to attend the training due to a lack of available places, further sessions will be offered shortly, to which you will be invited.
Training objectives
To discover the role of a My Earth in 180 facilitator :
– Understand the challenges of reducing greenhouse gas emissions at local and national levels and be able to convey an awareness-raising message to participants at the game table,
– Identify the stages involved in running the “serious game”, from setting up a game table through to facilitating the session and presenting the results,
– Help participants produce their “surprise report” and embody their characters,
– Facilitate the negotiation phases by rephrasing proposals and fostering the emergence of collective intelligence,
– Summarise the discussions and present the results during the debriefing phase in conjunction with the other game tables.
The training course leads to a training certificate.
Please note : the workshop takes place in two 1.5-hour sessions :
– An awareness-raising phase : presentation of the key issues, planetary boundaries, climate change, scaling up, laboratory dynamics, North-South dynamics, use of collective intelligence tools to foster a sense of wonder together, and an introduction to the game and the characters.
– A role-play phase : players devise possible alternatives and collectively negotiate the measures to be taken, either by individuals or by the team, to reduce the carbon footprint of their activities by 50%. This phase comprises an initial round of independent negotiation followed by a second round led by a team leader.
To get the most out of the experience, these two rounds are followed by a 30-minute debriefing session.
