Roles

Designed for all staff in higher education and research, the workshop offers a range of roles :

PARTICIPANTS
To share your views on the challenge of the transition, step into the shoes of different characters and work collectively towards a 50% reduction in business travel.

I raise my awareness of the issue and brainstorm with colleagues to develop a reduction plan
The role-playing exercise allows you to assess, in an uninhibited and objective manner, the barriers and enablers for implementing a change in practice within your research teams.

FACILITATOR
To facilitate the role-play phase of the deliberative democracy workshop

I can facilitate without necessarily being an expert !

As a facilitator, you encourage the emergence of collective intelligence and the shift from individual initiative to collective decision-making.

OBSERVER
For a quick introduction to MaTerre180’

I’m curious ; I’ll be observing and evaluating the workshop during the role-play phase

You will attend the role-play phase and have the opportunity to evaluate the session in terms of the acceptability and inventiveness of the proposed solutions (voting and feedback to players via a mini-survey).

MANAGEMENT TEAM, ‘TRANSITION ” UNIT OF A JOINT RESEARCH UNIT

With the support of My Earth in 180’, I am designing my own game board to specifically reflect the identity of my professional environment

Your organisation is already aware of the issue and is looking for workshops to trial scenarios for reducing business travel. My Earth in 180’ offers you the opportunity to take part in developing the workshop, through organisational involvement, by creating your own game board to specifically reflect the identity of your UMR.

SPONSOR
A different way to get involved

You can also become a patron of My Earth in 180’. Your role : during the role-play phase, you will keep track of carbon emissions and offer your perspective – perhaps a slightly offbeat one – on this academic initiative and the practical actions proposed.
If you would like to take part in this initiative or support it, please fill in a two-line mini-biography ; feel free to highlight any cross-disciplinary skills (photographer, comic book illustrator, etc.). The My Earth in 180’ team will get back to you for confirmation.

The workshop is divided into two 1½-hour sessions
Awareness-raising phase : introduction to the workshop, the issues at stake and the characters.
Role-play phase : players collectively negotiate the optimisation of business travel using a game board, with an initial ‘soft’ negotiation sequence followed by a ‘hard’ negotiation sequence, facilitated by a team leader. To get the most out of the experience, these two rounds are followed by a 30-minute debriefing session (optional).
